Home may be where the heart is, but the typical family spends most of
its resources, money, time, not to mention heart, on a house in order to
make it a home, so the loss of a home through foreclosure is
devastating. The real and potential threat of losing one’s home through
foreclosure has created enormous ripple effects that have overwhelmed
our neighborhoods, schools, local governments, and social service
agencies. At the epicenter of this crisis is the destabilized family and
the children who are innocent victims of their family’s misfortune.
This conference will address the financial, emotional, and educational
impact of housing foreclosure on families, discuss the specific
multi-dimensional needs of children and families coping with
foreclosure, and present resources and programs to assist those
families.
