Gabriella Celeste Says Tamir Rice Shooting Was Not Reasonable In Op-Ed

Posted on November 20, 2015

Policy Director, Gabriella Celeste, deems Tamir Rice shooting as not reasonable in her op-Ed published on cleveland.com on November 15, 2015. Celeste reviews the legal opinions on the Tamir Rice case and discusses the standard that was applied which was “one that claims that age, race, and place are immaterial to officers’ use of lethal force.”  In March, the Schubert Center submitted a letter to local, state and federal level policymakers concerning the importance of an adolescent development- and trauma-informed approach to police-youth interactions. Her full op-Ed can be read here.
