Faculty Associate Releases New Co-Authored Book

Posted on February 23, 2015

Faculty associate Mary Erdmans and sociology professor Tim Black have released a new book, “Life Before Pregnancy: On Becoming a Teen Mom.” This new book examines the lives of 108 working class adolescent mothers in Connecticut to examine their different trajectories to motherhood. While public narratives often demonize teen mothers, this book looks to their lives before pregnancy to highlight how complex social issues, such as poverty and violence against women, have impacted their individual pathways to motherhood.

More information on the book available at the publisher’s website.
