Exploring Youth Violence as a Health Disparity

BarksdalephotoThe Schubert Center continued its 2014-2015 Conversation Series Exploring Equity and Resilience in Childhood on October 23 with Edward Barksdale, MD, the Vice Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Surgery at UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. In a talk titled, “Youth and Violence: The Ultimate Health Disparity” Dr. Barksdale described youth violence as a public health issue affecting children and young people. He also discussed the larger public health implications of violence in relation to health disparities within minority and impoverished communities.

This event was co-sponsored by Pediatric Grand Rounds, UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.
